Data & AI Lead, Senior Manager

The Data & AI Lead oversees the data and AI practice at a federal client account, leading a matrixed organization of roughly 60 professionals (data analysts, data engineers, data scientists, AI developers and cloud platform engineers), with a strong focus on staffing, recruitment and continuous upskilling, while also providing strategic oversight to a 12-person Databricks team and managing the AI Innovation pipeline.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a matrixed organization of 60+ data analysts, data engineers, data scientists, AI developers and cloud platform engineers
  • Oversee team staffing, recruitment and professional development, ensuring team members are trained and upskilled in emerging technologies
  • Identify and recommend innovative data integration approaches, platform technologies and tools
  • Manage and maintain the AI Innovation pipeline, driving the development of forward-thinking AI solutions
  • Provide strategic oversight to a team of 12 data specialists delivering solutions on the Databricks platform
  • Collaborate closely with client stakeholders to align data and AI initiatives with organizational goals

Requirements

  • Proven experience in leading large data and AI teams, preferably in a client-facing environment
  • Deep expertise in data integration approaches and strong knowledge of emerging data platform technologies and AI advancements
  • Application of data modeling or LLMs to address client-specific problems or expected outcomes
  • Hands-on experience with data modeling
  • Extensive use of LLMs and other AI technology and tooling
  • Experience with Databricks and proven ability to oversee platform delivery teams
  • Excellent leadership, communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Ability to develop and execute strategies for talent acquisition, training and upskilling
  • US Citizenship required
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a government security clearance
