Sr. Engineering Manager, PCI ISO

Responsibilities

• ▹Lead, hire and develop a high-performing engineering team through regular 1:1s and feedback
• ▹Drive delivery of scalable, reliable and secure services aligned with business goals
• ▹Oversee the full software development lifecycle from planning to production support
• ▹Enforce best practices for code quality, test coverage, performance and security
• ▹Guide the team in designing distributed systems, APIs and integration patterns
• ▹Review functional and technical design documentation and provide feedback
• ▹Act as an escalation point for complex technical issues
• ▹Promote strong unit, integration and end-to-end testing practices
• ▹Monitor production services and ensure SLO/SLA compliance
• ▹Lead incident management processes, including on-call rotations
• ▹Identify and mitigate technical risks (performance, reliability, tech debt)
• ▹Collaborate with stakeholders to translate business needs into technical solutions
• ▹Contribute to strategic prioritization of features and technical initiatives
• ▹Leverage generative AI tools (e.g. ChatGPT, Copilot) to improve engineering efficiency

Requirements

• ▹8+ years of relevant experience with a Bachelor's degree, OR 11+ years of experience
• ▹Experience in the financial/payments industry or authorization systems
• ▹Experience with card issuing solutions (Mastercard, Visa, etc.)
• ▹Familiarity with the ISO8583 messaging system
• ▹Based in Brazil
• ▹English proficiency at B2 level or above (upper-intermediate)
• ▹Strong experience leading software engineering teams in production environments
• ▹Experience designing and operating distributed systems, APIs and microservices
• ▹Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP or Azure)
• ▹Understanding of CI/CD pipelines and observability practices

• ▹Extensive people-management experience (hiring, coaching, performance management)
• ▹Experience with mission-critical, high-availability systems
• ▹Experience with large-scale distributed computing challenges
• ▹Familiarity with cloud-native infrastructure, CI/CD and observability
• ▹Experience integrating generative AI tools into engineering workflows

• ▹Excellent communication translating technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders
