Lead Software Engineer, Backend

Responsibilities

• ▹Provide strong technical leadership and vision while staying close to the code
• ▹Collaborate with product management to define and prioritize the technical roadmap
• ▹Implement processes, tools and practices that drive high-velocity, high-quality delivery across onshore and offshore teams
• ▹Drive successful delivery of software projects: planning, resource allocation, project management
• ▹Grow adoption of SQA best practices
• ▹Work closely with cross-functional teams (Product, Clinical, Data, Client Success)
• ▹Drive AI-powered feature development, responsible AI practices and adoption of AI tools
• ▹Identify and mitigate technical risks, making data-driven decisions
• ▹Monitor and drive improvements to team and organizational performance

Requirements

• ▹5+ years in Software Engineering with 2+ years in an engineering leadership role
• ▹Track record of delivering complex software projects with onshore and offshore developers
• ▹Exceptional leadership and team-building skills in a remote setting
• ▹Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• ▹Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities
• ▹Hands-on backend experience, ideally in Go and/or cloud-native environments
• ▹Experience building or integrating AI-powered features with responsible AI practices
• ▹Experience integrating AI-assisted tools into the SDLC (code generation/review, DevOps, documentation, test automation)

Nice to have

• ▹Experience in a startup environment
• ▹Experience with medical, healthcare or population health data; familiarity with OHDSI, FHIR
• ▹Experience working in a HIPAA-regulated (or other regulated) environment
• ▹Familiarity with Google Cloud Platform frameworks (GKE, IAM, Firebase, Pub/Sub)
• ▹Familiarity with data engineering concepts and practices
