LINUX/AIX System Engineer

Responsibilities

• ▹Solve complex problems and identify potential future issues across a wide range of platforms and services
• ▹Manage systems data for clients and provide day-to-day solutions and security compliance
• ▹Oversee a queue of assignments and work directly with technicians, prioritising tickets to deliver the best solutions
• ▹Recommend modernization options, identify new business opportunities and build relationships with other teams and stakeholders

Requirements

• ▹Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or a related field, or equivalent work experience
• ▹Proven experience (3+ years) in system administration and support for AIX and/or Linux operating systems
• ▹Strong knowledge and hands-on experience with the IBM AIX operating system
• ▹Expertise in AIX server installation, configuration and system administration
• ▹Experience with AIX LPARs, virtualization (e.g. PowerVM) and system performance tuning
• ▹Knowledge of AIX-specific tools (e.g. SMIT, mksysb) and maintenance procedures
• ▹In-depth understanding and experience with Linux distributions (Red Hat, CentOS, Ubuntu, etc.)
• ▹Experience with kernel configuration, installation and patching
• ▹Familiarity with popular Linux services (e.g. Apache, NFS, DNS, SSH)
• ▹English: fluent
• ▹Greek: fluent

Nice to have

• ▹Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE), AIX certifications (IBM Certified System Administrator) or other relevant certifications
• ▹Linux Foundation Certified Engineer (LFCE) or similar Linux-related certifications
• ▹Proficiency in shell scripting (Bash, KSH, etc.) to automate system administration tasks
• ▹Familiarity with configuration management tools (e.g. Ansible, Puppet, Chef)
• ▹Experience with automation platforms (e.g. Jenkins, GitLab CI/CD)
• ▹Knowledge of system monitoring and performance tuning using native and third-party tools (e.g. Nagios, Zabbix or Grafana)
• ▹Familiarity with cloud environments (AWS, Azure) and containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes)
