Data Center Technician

Responsibilities

• ▹Maintain data center operations to ensure service availability and reliability
• ▹Conduct hardware and network diagnostics and repairs
• ▹Perform root cause analysis of hardware and software failures
• ▹Train internal teams
• ▹Develop documentation
• ▹Provide technical support to data center teams
• ▹Develop scripts to update server and networking hardware
• ▹Maintain inventory
• ▹Assemble and install equipment
• ▹Perform maintenance of test and tool equipment
• ▹Travel up to 10% of the time to other data center locations as needed
• ▹Respond to on-site equipment failures or emergencies within 60 minutes while on scheduled on-call

Requirements

• ▹Computer hardware experience (troubleshooting, assembling)
• ▹Linux operating system experience
• ▹Ability to regularly transport and position equipment weighing up to 50 lbs (~23 kg)
• ▹Ability to remain stationary (sitting or standing) for extended periods to perform diagnostic and repair tasks
• ▹Ability to maneuver in cramped or elevated spaces (under-floor areas, ladders) to access server racks
• ▹Fine motor skills for handling small hardware components and cables
• ▹Availability for a flexible schedule in a 24/7 environment, including rotating on-call shifts
• ▹Excellent time management, organizational and communication skills; ability to prioritize and react quickly
• ▹Ability to work in a climate-controlled data center with fluctuating temperatures (60–90°F) in hot/cold aisles

• ▹Hands-on or education-based experience with computer hardware troubleshooting and repair
• ▹Data center experience
• ▹Computer networking experience
• ▹Python, Bash or other scripting languages experience
• ▹Experience with Cisco IOS and/or Juniper JunOS
• ▹Associate's Degree or equivalent experience in an IT-related field
