Anduril Industries is a defense technology company built around Lattice OS, an AI-powered operating system that turns real-time sensor data into a 3D command and control center. The Air Dominance & Strike team is looking for an Android Engineer to design and build real-time, map-based user interfaces for controlling the Fury, Barracuda and Roadrunner aircraft through the ATAK plugin ecosystem.

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, test, and deploy real-time, map-based user interfaces for displaying sensor data and controlling the Fury, Barracuda and Roadrunner aircraft from an Android application via the ATAK plugin ecosystem.
  • Define and implement APIs for network communications, real-time telemetry, vehicle configuration, and sensor/payload control with full motion video streaming.
  • Help define software architectures, visual designs, and UX workflows for multiple UAS, working with chief engineers, product designers, program managers, and end-user customers.
  • Work with Android frontend technologies (Jetpack Compose) and backend technologies (Java/Kotlin/C++/Rust/Golang), plus build tooling (CMake/Cargo/gradle/NixOS/CircleCI/Docker).
  • Work with the Android Tactical Assault Kit (ATAK) SDK and the TAK developer community.
  • Collaborate with engineers using other stacks like TypeScript/React, C++/Qt, and C#/.NET.
  • Test and evaluate software using simulations, benchtop hardware, and live flight assets.

Requirements

  • Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • Experience developing user interface applications, especially high-traffic, data-intensive, or map-based systems.
  • Proficiency with modern Android languages: Jetpack Compose, XML, Java, Kotlin.
  • Proficiency with backend/middleware languages such as C++, Rust, or Golang.

  • Proven ability to translate user needs into software features while balancing UX with engineering constraints.
  • Willingness to provide on-call support to clients.
  • Ability to travel up to 30% of the time, including international travel.
  • Eligible to obtain and maintain a U.S. Secret security clearance.

Nice to have

  • Experience working with the DoD in tightly regulated, safety-first environments.
  • Experience with robotic systems involving hardware, actuators, datalink networks and sensors.
  • Experience in a startup or small company (teams under 10).
  • Experience with 3D geospatial analysis and mapping software (ArcGIS, Cesium, MapBox, TAK).
  • Experience building UI software with offline/local functionality.
  • Exposure to build/lifecycle tools (CMake, Cargo, gradle, NixOS, CircleCI, Gitlab-CI, Docker, Python, Bash).
  • Exposure to Ghost, Altius, or Bolt-related technologies (flight mechanics, UAV control, mesh networking, FMV processing, ISR sensors).
