Canonical is hiring Golang engineers of all seniority levels who prefer to work in Go. After the first interview round, candidates are matched to the product team that best fits their interests, in a fully remote and distributed environment.
Responsibilities
- ▹Design and implement well-tested and documented software in Go
- ▹Debug and fix issues encountered by users
- ▹Participate in the engineering process through code and architectural reviews
- ▹Collaborate with community and colleagues on technical specifications
- ▹Seek improvements to engineering and operations practices
- ▹In some cases, deploy and operate services developed by the team
- ▹Contribute to the success of the product through technical advocacy
Requirements
- ▹An exceptional academic track record from both high school and university
- ▹Undergraduate degree in Computer Science or STEM, or a compelling narrative about an alternative path
- ▹Drive and a track record of going above and beyond expectations
- ▹Well-organised, self-starting and able to deliver to schedule
- ▹Professional manner interacting with colleagues, partners and the community
- ▹Experience designing and writing high-quality Golang software on Linux
- ▹Experience with and passion for Linux at the system level
- ▹For more senior roles: experience building, deploying and operating distributed systems and APIs
- ▹Professional written and spoken English
- ▹Experience with Linux (Debian or Ubuntu preferred)
- ▹Excellent communication and presentation skills
- ▹Ability to travel twice a year for company events of up to two weeks each
Nice to have
- ▹Experience developing for Ubuntu Linux
- ▹Experience with Juju, LXD, Microk8s, Snapd, Ubuntu Core, Ubuntu Pro
- ▹Performance engineering and security experience
