AI Technical Lead - C++ Ecosystem

Responsibilities

• ▹Shape and deliver AI-powered features for CLion and C++ workflows
• ▹Design architecture for AI integrations, agent tools, and C++-specific AI capabilities
• ▹Build benchmarks and evaluation frameworks for AI-assisted C++ development
• ▹Prototype and validate new AI workflows (debugging, code understanding, refactoring, navigation)
• ▹Collaborate with product managers, ML engineers, and QA to shape the roadmap
• ▹Help define AI strategy for the C++ ecosystem with JetBrains AI, ML, and product teams
• ▹Contribute hands-on to technical design and architecture in a large, mature codebase

Requirements

• ▹Significant software engineering experience as Staff Engineer, Principal Engineer, or Technical Lead
• ▹Strong Kotlin, Java, or other JVM experience, or ability to quickly become productive in a JVM codebase
• ▹Experience building AI-powered products, developer tools, coding assistants, or agents
• ▹Strong understanding of modern coding agents (tool calling, context management, MCP, evaluation)
• ▹Track record of driving technical direction in ambiguous, fast-moving areas
• ▹Strong product instincts balancing innovation with practical delivery
• ▹Excellent communication and ability to influence without formal authority

Nice to have

• ▹Experience with C++ development workflows, compilers, debuggers, language tooling
• ▹Experience with IDE internals, language servers, code analysis
• ▹Experience leading small teams
• ▹Experience with AI-native developer products
