Senior II Data Engineer - Data Ingestion and Enrichment team

Responsibilities

• ▹Build trusted ingestion and enrichment foundations (Data Lake, Data as a Product): design, build, and own Preply's data lake with clear ownership, schemas, and quality expectations
• ▹Own end-to-end ingestion pipelines (batch and streaming) with clear raw → standardized → consumption layers
• ▹Define and implement data contracts and early validation between producers and consumers
• ▹Build enrichment logic that joins, standardizes, and contextualizes data, supporting historical tracking and point-in-time correctness
• ▹Instrument pipelines for observability (freshness, latency, quality, cost), contribute to SLOs and alerting
• ▹Apply governance and compliance by design: access control, classification, privacy protections at ingestion time
• ▹Enable self-service and standardization: ingestion templates, shared libraries, and tooling for teams to onboard sources independently
• ▹Collaborate cross-team with Product, Backend, Analytics, and ML partners on ingestion requirements and priorities

Requirements

• ▹Driving architectural patterns of large, high-scale applications (well-designed APIs, high-volume pipelines, efficient algorithms)
• ▹Solid experience in platform or data engineering teams, leading multi-stakeholder deliveries
• ▹Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS/GCP or equivalent) and modern DevOps practices
• ▹Hands-on experience with real-time and batch data processing frameworks (Spark, Flink, Spark streaming, Kafka, Debezium, etc.)
• ▹Expertise with orchestration tools such as Airflow, dbt, or similar
• ▹Exceptional problem-solving skills, proactive, innovative mindset focused on continuous improvement
• ▹Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills (English B2+)

• ▹Proven track record scaling data infrastructures in fast-growing startups
• ▹Terraform/Kubernetes for data tooling
• ▹SQL proficiency
