Senior Infrastructure Engineer (Software-Focused)

Stack

Responsibilities

• ▹Design and build frameworks, tools and services improving Asana's infrastructure reliability, observability and scalability
• ▹Lead end-to-end projects across multiple systems and teams
• ▹Improve operability of stateful infrastructure (MySQL, OpenSearch, DynamoDB)
• ▹Debug production issues across the stack, including on-call rotation
• ▹Partner with product teams to shape service-oriented architecture
• ▹Share knowledge through code reviews, design discussions and mentorship

Requirements

• ▹Strong software engineering background (Go, Python, Scala, TypeScript)
• ▹7+ years experience building and operating backend systems at scale
• ▹Familiarity with distributed systems and storage technologies (SQL, NoSQL, Search), especially cloud
• ▹Experience with AWS services (RDS, EKS, IAM), Terraform and monitoring tooling (Datadog)
• ▹Solid understanding of SRE principles (SLIs/SLOs, error budgets, incident response)
• ▹Clear communicator and strong collaborator
• ▹Not a fit for scripting-only candidates — real systems must be built and shipped
• ▹Curiosity about AI tools and emerging technologies
