Senior Java Software Engineer, Data Enrichment

Responsibilities

• ▹Design and develop robust, scalable backend components using Java and the Spring framework (Spring Boot, Spring Web, etc.)
• ▹Contribute to the redesign and modernization of a legacy Python-based system
• ▹Contribute to API design, system architecture, and performance tuning for the team's services
• ▹Identify and resolve complex technical challenges, and continuously improve code quality, maintainability, and system performance
• ▹Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize the performance, availability, and throughput of the team's services, including automating recovery from failure states
• ▹Work closely with fellow engineers, Product Managers, and infrastructure teams to deliver features and improvements
• ▹Participate in and, where appropriate, help drive design reviews, sprint planning, and technical discussions
• ▹Share knowledge and provide clear, constructive feedback through code reviews and pairing, and help onboard fellow engineers
• ▹Take ownership of the design, implementation, and delivery of features, providing clear effort estimates
• ▹Deliver high-quality code with a strong focus on testing, reliability, and performance
• ▹Contribute to improving monitoring and observability for both new and existing systems
• ▹Support production systems by diagnosing and resolving issues quickly

Requirements

• ▹3-5 years of hands-on backend development experience with Java (preferably Java 17+) and the Spring ecosystem (Spring Boot, Spring Web/MVC, etc.)
• ▹Experience designing RESTful APIs and scalable production backend systems
• ▹Solid understanding of multithreaded application development
• ▹Familiarity with distributed systems, microservices, and performance optimization
• ▹Experience with SQL/NoSQL databases
• ▹Experience with containerization (e.g. Docker) and CI/CD workflows
• ▹Experience with networking, proxies, and handling asynchronous or distributed workflows
• ▹Ability to collaborate effectively in an agile development environment, including supporting fellow engineers through code review
• ▹Strong analytical, problem-solving skills, and fluent written and spoken English

Nice to have

• ▹Working knowledge of Python 3.9+ (or willingness to learn) to interact with parts of the legacy system
• ▹Experience with web crawling, scraping, or data ingestion pipelines
• ▹Exposure to monitoring, observability tools, and distributed tracing (e.g. Kibana, Grafana, Prometheus)
• ▹Familiarity with AWS services, particularly Lambda, DynamoDB, Auto Scaling Groups
• ▹Familiarity with ElasticSearch, Redis, Kubernetes, ArgoCD, and GitHub Actions
