Who are we looking for?

Protector Forsikring is seeking a talented and entrepreneurial engineer to lead the development of our next-generation data and AI capabilities. This is a unique hybrid role for a professional who is passionate about both building robust, scalable data systems and creating practical, user-facing analytical applications

This position is ideal for a self-starter who actively leverages AI-assisted development tools (Claude in VS Code and GitHub Copilot) to multiply their own coding productivity, allowing them to focus on architecture, business logic, and rapid prototyping. Your mission will be to work collaboratively with our underwriting and analytics teams to proactively discover, design, and build solutions—from automated dbt pipelines to interactive data-driven applications—that deliver tangible business value.

What will your role include?

• Build the Foundation: Continuously develop, optimize, and maintain robust data pipelines and our integration layers (using Google BigQuery, SQL, DBT/Dataform, Python).

• Drive Data Democratization: Shape our platform into a self-service tool that enables standardization, automation, and advanced analytics for the whole team.

• Develop Co-Pilots: Build interactive, data-driven applications and prototypes (using frameworks like Streamlit or Dash) that act as intelligent assistants for business users.

• Champion Culture: Be a vocal advocate for data best practices, teaching, coaching, and writing clean technical documentation.

We are looking for someone who has:

• Strong proficiency in Python and SQL is essential.

• Solid experience with cloud-based data warehouses, with a strong preference for Google BigQuery

• Hands-on experience with modern data transformation and modeling tools, specifically dbt or Dataform.

• Experience with, or a strong interest in, AI-assisted coding (such as Claude in VS Code) to accelerate your own workflow.

• Demonstrated experience building data-driven applications, scripts, or interactive dashboards (e.g., using Streamlit, Dash, Flask, or similar frameworks). A strong portfolio of personal projects is a huge plus.

• Norwegian language skills (an advantage, but not a requirement)
