Naval Architect Intern (Fall 2026)

Responsibilities

• ▹Assist in the design and analysis of hull forms, structures, and systems for autonomous surface vessels (ASVs)
• ▹Conduct hydrodynamic and stability calculations, including resistance, propulsion, and maneuvering
• ▹Collaborate with senior engineers on CAD modeling, structural design, and weight management
• ▹Support integration of autonomous navigation and control systems into vessel designs
• ▹Assist in model tests and validation with engineers and programmers
• ▹Participate in design reviews and brainstorming sessions
• ▹Research and stay current on developments in naval architecture and autonomous technology
• ▹Support documentation and report preparation

Requirements

• ▹Currently pursuing a degree in Naval Architecture, Marine Engineering, Ocean Engineering, or a related field
• ▹Basic knowledge of naval architecture principles: ship design, stability, hydrodynamics
• ▹Familiarity with CAD software (e.g., Rhino, AutoCAD, SolidWorks) and simulation tools (e.g., Orca3D, ANSYS)
• ▹Full-time in-office presence (40 hrs/week) in Austin, TX or Franklin, LA, August through December
