Director, AV Product Engineering

Responsibilities

• ▹Collect, filter, and select relevant training data, then train, tune, and debug production models
• ▹Define and own the technical vision, strategy, and metrics for the area
• ▹Frame autonomous driving as a data-solvable problem, defining efficient data curricula for product and geographic coverage
• ▹Drive an eval-driven culture to reach KPI targets with predictability and resource efficiency
• ▹Lead multiple teams (Driving, ADAS, Parking, HMI) and guide Engineering Managers
• ▹Build technical capabilities across the division and develop talented engineers as Wayve grows

Requirements

• ▹Track record delivering successful autonomy products built on complex AI models
• ▹Management experience leading complex teams, e.g. multiple layers or matrixed
• ▹Domain skills in autonomy products - autopilot/navigation, active safety, parking
• ▹Product delivery skills: roadmap articulation, interfacing with leadership and business functions
• ▹Execution skills: resource allocation, program planning and execution 1-2 years out
• ▹Engineering skills: code development practices, testing, serviceability
• ▹BS or MS in Computer Science, Engineering, or similar experience

Nice to have

• ▹Experience applying foundation models to implement specific product features
• ▹Experience working with multiple automotive OEMs
• ▹Experience with GenAI simulation
• ▹Experience with cloud platforms, databases, large-scale data pipelines
