Staff Supplier Quality Engineer (PCB/PCBA)

Responsibilities

• ▹Lead supplier assessments and on-site audits of PCB, PCBA, and electronics manufacturing suppliers
• ▹Partner with Electrical, Manufacturing, and Design Engineers throughout the Hardware Product Development Process
• ▹Drive supplier qualification activities: process audits, First Article Inspections, Production Validation Builds, manufacturing readiness reviews
• ▹Lead supplier quality planning during prototype, pre-production, and mass production (control plans, PFMEAs, process validations)
• ▹Manage supplier corrective action requests (SCARs), 8D investigations, containment actions, and root cause analysis
• ▹Develop and maintain supplier scorecards and KPIs, driving continuous improvement toward zero defects
• ▹Analyze manufacturing and field quality data, assess supplier performance, and proactively mitigate risks
• ▹Implement robust inspection, test, and process control methodologies in collaboration with suppliers

Requirements

• ▹Passion for delivering exceptional quality and reliability in advanced electronic products
• ▹Strong interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills to influence cross-functional teams and supplier partners
• ▹Experience developing, qualifying, and managing electronics manufacturing suppliers across multiple geographies
• ▹Quality engineering experience in high-volume, high-complexity consumer electronics, aerospace, automotive, or robotics, with deep PCB fabrication, SMT, and component quality knowledge
• ▹Familiarity with PCB/PCBA manufacturing processes: AOI, SPI, ICT, flying probe, functional test, X-ray inspection, reliability testing
• ▹Experience interpreting electrical schematics, assembly drawings, and Gerber files, communicating technical requirements to suppliers
• ▹Proficiency with quality tools: PFMEA, DFMEA, Control Plans, PPAP, 8D, Root Cause Analysis, SPC, Process Capability Analysis, DOE, with demonstrated measurable results
• ▹Experience with component qualification, supplier process validation, reliability testing, and failure analysis
• ▹Willingness to travel (approx. 20-30%)

Nice to have

• ▹Familiarity with IPC standards (IPC-A-610, IPC-6012, IPC-J-STD-001, IPC-7711/7721)
• ▹FAA Part 107 certification within the first 60 days (encouraged)
