Technical Program Manager, Product Engineering

A Technical Program Manager role architecting the program structure, cadences and visibility mechanisms for Cohere's expanding portfolio of AI-powered product experiences.

Stack

Responsibilities

  • Own cross-team program coordination — track progress, dependencies and risks across all workstreams and functions (Product, Design, Engineering, Finance, Revenue)
  • Drive the executive operating cadence, synthesizing status into clear signal and surfacing risks before they become blockers
  • Build the program infrastructure from scratch: roadmapping templates, status reporting, milestone tracking and cross-team dependency mapping
  • Coordinate shared resources (particularly MLE and PD capacity) across teams, identifying scheduling conflicts and driving prioritization
  • Support each team lead in standing up their weekly cadence and communicating progress upward
  • Build credibility and influence with stakeholders outside your own organization

Requirements

  • 4+ years as an Engineering or Technical Program Manager, including time at a startup or high-growth company building programs rather than inheriting them
  • Demonstrated experience running multiple simultaneous workstreams while spotting cascading risks early
  • Strong executive communication — distilling messy, multi-team status into crisp, decision-ready updates
  • Fluency with AI/ML product development
  • A builder's instinct: comfortable creating process in ambiguous, low-structure environments, pragmatic enough to ship something imperfect
  • Cross-functional influence without authority, aligning stakeholders with different priorities
  • Experience working with technical leads, able to discuss technical dependencies and constraints credibly

Nice to have

  • Building OKR or roadmapping systems from scratch in a scaling organization
  • Prior work inside an AI or LLM product company
