Coder is hiring a Developer Relations Engineer to grow its open-source community — curating the template registry, improving docs, and representing Coder at conferences and in Discord/GitHub.
Responsibilities
- ▹Be a consistent, helpful presence in Discord and GitHub, answering questions and spotting recurring patterns
- ▹Curate and maintain the template registry across Docker, Kubernetes, Proxmox, AWS and bare metal
- ▹Create first-party templates for key stacks including Python, Node, Go, Rust and Java
- ▹Give talks and run workshops at technical events such as KubeCon, FOSDEM and SCaLE
- ▹Build and maintain demo environments and hardware demos
- ▹Own the getting-started documentation experience and reduce activation drop-off
- ▹Run at least one community program such as education partnerships or bounty programs
- ▹Create end-to-end tutorials for real workflows
Requirements
- ▹A software or platform engineering background, having written code and managed servers
- ▹Strong practitioner empathy for developers, platform engineers and self-hosters
- ▹Willingness to travel up to 20%
- ▹A tinkering, bias-for-action mindset
- ▹Experience participating in technical communities as a contributor, moderator or maintainer
- ▹Strong technical writing skills
- ▹Comfort using LLMs and automation without automating away the human presence
Nice to have
- ▹Experience speaking at conferences, running workshops or building an audience around technical content
- ▹Experience as a community moderator, support engineer or maintainer
- ▹A recognizable presence in a technical community such as open source, platform engineering or self-hosting
- ▹Familiarity with Coder or similar tools such as Gitpod, DevPod or GitHub Codespaces
- ▹Prior work on a developer-facing open-source project with an active community
- ▹Exposure to enterprise platform engineering concepts such as SSO, SAML, Vault, Artifactory
