A leadership role for a former strong individual-contributor engineer: managing and growing a team of 3-5 engineers while staying technically sharp and hands-on with code.
Responsibilities
- ▹Manage 3-5 engineers and hire 3-5 more, covering multiple teams and specializations (product, SRE, design engineering)
- ▹Give feedback on product and technical specs to help refine scope and quality
- ▹Grow engineers to the point where they can take on large, loosely defined projects with little intervention
- ▹Jump into the code to debug customer issues, ship small fixes, or improve developer experience
- ▹Lead department- and company-wide initiatives (e.g. rethinking PR review, improving the interview process)
Requirements
- ▹A strong background as an individual-contributor engineer that you enjoy keeping sharp
- ▹Experience growing and coaching engineers
- ▹Desire for a technically up-to-date, hands-on leadership role that stays off the critical path
- ▹Strong communication and change-leadership skills
