Staff Engineer, Operations Technology (all genders)
HelloFresh in Warsaw is looking for a Staff Engineer to contribute to the success of the Food Systems Alliance by providing technical leadership across multiple engineering teams and business domains. At a pivotal stage in the transition from bespoke operational tooling to globally scalable software products, you will shape architecture, drive technical decision-making, and translate complex supply chain processes into robust, maintainable systems. Working closely with engineers and operational stakeholders, you will influence technical direction and promote engineering best practices.
Responsibilities
- ▹Lead cross-squad technical initiatives to design and build modular, globally scalable backend solutions for complex supply chain operations
- ▹Act as the technical bridge between engineering squads and operational stakeholders (Procurement, Production, Data)
- ▹Define and drive engineering best practices around system design, code quality, and maintainability across the Food Systems Alliance
- ▹Optimize complex data workflows and event-driven architectures to support day-to-day production and scaling needs
- ▹Provide technical leadership through architecture reviews, design discussions, and knowledge sharing
- ▹Shape the technical roadmap by identifying architectural bottlenecks and proposing strategic improvements
Requirements
- ▹Extensive backend engineering expertise, ideally within JVM-based ecosystems (Kotlin or Java)
- ▹Strong grasp of distributed systems and microservices architecture
- ▹Proven track record designing and operating highly scalable, event-driven systems using messaging technologies (Kafka, RabbitMQ, or SQS)
- ▹Strong ability to work across team boundaries, translating complex business or operational requirements into actionable technical roadmaps
- ▹Solid understanding of modern cloud infrastructure (AWS, Kubernetes) and observability practices
- ▹Capacity to establish and advocate for tribe-wide standards
- ▹A collaborative, low-ego approach with strong technical judgment and a passion for mentoring
