Lead IT Architect – Operations & Platform Architecture

As Lead IT Architect at Telekom MMS you take full technical and architectural responsibility for modern cloud and on-premise/private cloud platforms, shaping operations and platform strategy.

Responsibilities

  • Design, evaluate, and evolve cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, T Cloud Public) and Kubernetes-based operations/deployment environments
  • Plan technical projects, create solution designs for transitions, and make strategic technology decisions
  • Ensure high availability, scalability, multi-tenancy, and security-by-design at all times
  • Set up a controlled, KPI-driven operating environment, embedding governance requirements (e.g., KRITIS)
  • Provide technical leadership to DevOps and system engineering teams and architects, optimizing operating models and responsibilities
  • Translate complex technical topics into clear architecture narratives for management and clients

Requirements

  • At least 3 years of experience in an architecture or expert engineer role in cloud/operations
  • Deep understanding of cloud architectures (T Cloud Public, AWS, Azure)
  • Solid knowledge of on-premise data center/network, virtualization, and storage
  • Experience operating Kubernetes platforms (Rancher) and Infrastructure as Code (Terraform/OpenTofu)
  • Hands-on automation and configuration management (Ansible/Puppet) and CI/CD pipelines (GitLab, ArgoCD)
  • Extensive experience with SLA-based operations, incident and change management, and managed services

Nice to have

  • Security and compliance knowledge (PSA process, GDPR, BSI baseline protection)
  • Policy-as-Code experience (OPA, Kyverno)
  • Service mesh knowledge (e.g., Istio)
  • Experience in regulated or telecom-adjacent client environments
