Student Assistant in Software Development for Cyber Security

Stack

Responsibilities

• ▹Support the development of the open-source project FACT (Firmware Analysis and Comparison Tool)
• ▹Get up to speed with technologies and methods for improving FACT
• ▹Test new technical approaches for firmware extraction and analysis for integration into FACT
• ▹Implement new features and optimise existing ones

Requirements

• ▹Ongoing studies in computer science (Bachelor or Master)
• ▹Strong interest in cyber security topics such as operating system security, firmware analysis and binary analysis
• ▹Routine use of Docker and GitHub
• ▹Motivation, initiative and a reliable way of working
• ▹Good German and English skills, written and spoken

Nice to have

• ▹Relevant prior knowledge, e.g. creating signatures for YARA or libmagic, and using Ghidra
• ▹Software development experience in Python and working with PostgreSQL/sqlalchemy
