As a Senior DevOps Engineer at Allianz, you will be integral to the technology solutions lifecycle, participating in design, automation, deployment, and support. You will be part of a team transitioning a mission-critical data exchange platform from a legacy mainframe environment to a modern, AWS-based cloud architecture. You will focus on the stability, automation and operational excellence of the platform, while leveraging your development background to analyze and resolve complex issues within the backend. Your role will involve collaborating with cross functional teams to ensure seamless integration and operational efficiency, while adhering to security and compliance standards.

What you do

• Manage and maintain a workflow engine which transforms and routes data between internal Allianz systems and external partners.
• Implement and manage robust CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions to enhance deployment speed and reliability.
• Orchestrate and support the AWS environment, including Kubernetes, PostgreSQL and network management.
• Develop and maintain backend microservices using Java and Spring Boot — including implementing new features, debugging, and optimizing existing services.
• Use Dynatrace to perform deep-dive analysis in distributed systems to ensure high performance and stability.
• Act as a technical owner for operational issues, coordinating with developers and external clients to ensure seamless data transfer.
• Ensure all cloud-native solutions adhere to Allianz Information Security and compliance standards.
• As the team grows, take initiative in coordinating work within the local team and act as an interface between the team and the client.

What you bring

Must have:

• 5+ years of professional experience in software engineering or DevOps, of which 3+ years working with Java and Spring Boot.
• Proficiency in both English and German (at least B2 level) is mandatory, as the role involves direct contact with German-speaking stakeholders and clients.
• Experience with AWS services, specifically Aurora, VPC, EC2, EKS (Kubernetes), S3, and RDS. (or similar experience with Azure)
• Experience with Terraform for managing cloud environments.
• Knowledge of Docker, Helm, Git, and GitHub Actions (or Jenkins).
• Solid understanding of Java and Spring Boot — for both feature development and troubleshooting/optimizing backend microservices.
• Experience with Dynatrace or similar APM tools.
• Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics and Informatics, or a related field.
• An adaptable professional who is willing to take ownership of the application's stability and lifecycle.

Nice to have:

• A level of seniority that allows you to understand the business context, take ownership of decisions within the team, and coordinate a small team when needed.
• Operational and L2 support experience — ability to troubleshoot production issues and coordinate resolution with developers and stakeholders.
• Frontend experience with Angular or other modern frontend frameworks.
• Experience with Argo-Workflows and infrastructure.
