(Senior or Staff) Backend Engineer, AI Tooling

Responsibilities

• ▹Own architectural decisions across developer productivity, SDLC metrics, CI/CD systems, AI-assisted QA/testing and AI-assisted development
• ▹Mentor engineers through code review and design partnership
• ▹Lead projects spanning quarters, broken into validated milestones
• ▹Shape the roadmap and technical strategy with leadership
• ▹Own the operational health of the systems you build and use data to decide on iteration, maintenance and deprecation
• ▹Be accountable for the technical direction of your area, anticipating 12+ month challenges

Requirements

• ▹At least 7 years of experience as a software engineer, with at least 2–3 years at senior/staff level
• ▹Hands-on experience building and operating developer platforms, CI/CD systems, observability/metrics infrastructure, code quality automation, testing infrastructure and/or developer tooling
• ▹Previously shipped infrastructure or tooling that measurably improved developer velocity
• ▹Experience leading adoption of AI-powered developer tools across an engineering organisation
• ▹Experience in a high-performing engineering organisation
• ▹Experience integrating third-party services (APIs, SaaS tools) into internal systems with attention to reliability and security
