Senior Backend Developer

Univrses is looking for a senior backend developer to design, build and scale the systems behind 3DAI™, which store and process large volumes of geospatial and time-series data. You will work with Node.js, TypeScript and AWS and own features from technical design to production.

Responsibilities

  • ▹Develop and scale backend services for storing, processing and visualising large volumes of geospatial and time-series data
  • ▹Design efficient and maintainable solutions across APIs, database schemas, security, logging, monitoring and scaling
  • ▹Own features end-to-end, translating high-level specifications into production-grade services
  • ▹Design and work with distributed systems involving asynchronous processing, caching, queues and service-to-service communication
  • ▹Use AI-assisted development and agentic workflows, including tools such as Cursor or Claude Code, to accelerate development, refactoring and automation
  • ▹Contribute to code quality through testing, technical discussions and knowledge sharing

Requirements

  • ▹5+ years of backend development experience, or a proven track record of equivalent depth, building production-grade services with Node.js, TypeScript and AWS
  • ▹Solid understanding of REST APIs and GraphQL
  • ▹Strong hands-on experience with geospatial and time-series data, including specialised tools and databases such as PostGIS
  • ▹Experience with serverless computing or Infrastructure as Code (IaC), using tools such as AWS CloudFormation, Docker or the Serverless Framework
  • ▹Experience designing and reasoning about distributed systems
