Senior IT Technician – Data Center

Stack

Responsibilities

• ▹Operate, monitor and maintain server and network systems in the data center, performing hardware rack installations (servers, switches, storage systems, UPS)
• ▹Handle cabling, documentation and patch management according to applicable standards (copper and fiber)
• ▹Automate using scripting (bash, python, javascript) in Unix/Linux environments (e.g. ansible) and build Linux-based hypervisors (e.g. Proxmox)
• ▹Implement and operate container/Kubernetes infrastructure and cloud infrastructure (openstack, opentofu and similar)
• ▹Analyze and resolve technical issues in 2nd-level hands-on support, and coordinate technician visits, installations and de-installations with vendors and service providers
• ▹Implement security and access-control policies and ensure compliance with agreed SLAs and internal operational/security policies
• ▹Maintain asset documentation (IT assets, network diagrams, cable lists, configurations)
• ▹Support infrastructure projects such as rollouts, migrations or relocations

Requirements

• ▹Completed IT vocational training (e.g. Fachinformatiker Systemintegration) or comparable qualification, with hands-on experience in a data center environment
• ▹Strong knowledge of server hardware (HPE, Dell, Lenovo), networking (Cisco, HP Aruba) and cabling standards (copper & fiber)
• ▹Solid Linux knowledge with RPM/DEB-based distributions (Debian, SUSE, RHEL)
• ▹Familiarity with automation (Terraform, Ansible) and scripting (Bash, Python, Powershell) in Unix/Linux and Windows environments
• ▹Know-how in building and managing Linux-based hypervisors (e.g. Proxmox VE) and container/Kubernetes infrastructure
• ▹Knowledge of cloud infrastructure (Azure, AWS, ideally Openstack)
• ▹Routine with data-center-specific processes such as racking, patching, power management and climate control
• ▹Good German and English skills
