Firmware & Electrical Engineering Manager

Engineering Manager • Hybrid • Vollzeit • Portugal Porto, Portugal

Lead a team of Firmware and Electrical Engineers at the Porto office in a hybrid setup. The role combines people management with ownership of the technical quality of the hardware.

Responsibilities

  • ▹Lead and develop the team: regular 1:1s, performance reviews and career conversations, clear goals and meaningful feedback
  • ▹Foster a culture of technical excellence and continuous growth
  • ▹Champion structured engineering workflows and drive process improvements
  • ▹Oversee team contributions to 8D investigations, component lifecycle management, design changes for active product lines and new product development
  • ▹Provide technical guidance and support decision-making
  • ▹Manage team capacity, workload distribution and resource planning; partner with project managers on schedule, risks, issue tracking and communication; serve as project manager for some projects or sub-initiatives
  • ▹Coordinate closely within the FW/EE group and with other engineering teams so that co-design, interfaces and full solution design are delivered on time for EVT/DVT/PVT builds

Requirements

  • ▹5+ years in electrical engineering, embedded firmware engineering or combined EE/FW roles
  • ▹Leadership experience, formal or informal, across projects or teams, with the ability to influence outcomes, develop others, drive engineering decisions and deliver cross-functional initiatives
  • ▹Strong communication and technical documentation skills
  • ▹Comfortable working cross-functionally in fast-paced hardware development cycles (EVT/DVT/PVT)
  • ▹Strong experience with microcontrollers, embedded C/C++, board bring-up, power systems and debugging tools (oscilloscopes, JTAG, logic analyzers)
  • ▹Experience with embedded firmware development or close collaboration with firmware engineers, with enough depth to provide meaningful technical direction

Nice to have

  • ▹Experience managing a team through a full product lifecycle, from NPD through sustaining and end-of-life
  • ▹Exposure to leading or closely partnering across multiple engineering disciplines (e.g. mechanical, industrial design, quality, manufacturing test)
  • ▹Experience owning schedule and risk for cross-functional initiatives beyond your own team's scope
