Senior Software Engineer - Energy Markets

Responsibilities

• ▹Build and optimize backend services for VPP operations and energy market integrations.
• ▹Design systems at the intersection of backend and data processing pipelines.
• ▹Drive technical decisions and guide fellow engineers on architectural choices.
• ▹Navigate between data engineering, backend engineering and the energy market domain.
• ▹Collaborate with product managers, data engineers and data scientists across team boundaries.

Requirements

• ▹Proven experience developing scalable backend solutions with TypeScript.
• ▹Data engineering fundamentals: designing systems that bridge backend and data processing.
• ▹Hands-on experience with energy service interfaces (smart meters, optimization, load balancing).
• ▹Strong knowledge of architectural patterns, CI/CD (GitHub Actions) and cloud infrastructure (GCP preferred).
• ▹Ability to guide architectural decisions, mentor engineers and coordinate across domains.
• ▹Passion for maintainable, documented and testable code.

Nice to have

• ▹Experience building virtual power plant infrastructure and energy market integrations.
• ▹Python and BigQuery experience in data engineering or machine learning contexts.
• ▹IoT experience for grid balancing and demand response.
• ▹Infrastructure as Code experience (Terraform).
• ▹Familiarity with energy market APIs (EPEX Spot, Montel).
