Responsibilities

• ▹Shape technical direction: take technical ownership within the Retail domain and guide architectural decisions on scalability, performance and maintainability
• ▹Build and evolve customer experiences: stay hands-on from early discovery and technical design through implementation, rollout and production, with a strong current focus on frontend
• ▹Raise engineering standards: evolve engineering practices, shared components and architectural patterns
• ▹Lead through influence: mentor engineers through pairing, code reviews, design discussions and technical feedback
• ▹Connect technology and product: partner with Product Owners, UX and engineering colleagues to explore opportunities, identify risks early and balance technical trade-offs

Requirements

• ▹Deep software engineering expertise in frontend or backend, or across both
• ▹Operated at Staff/Principal level or demonstrated equivalent technical leadership
• ▹Strong architecture and system design skills with a high degree of autonomy in complex technical decisions
• ▹Track record of mentoring engineers and leading through influence without formal authority
• ▹Product thinking: effective work with Product and UX, evaluating trade-offs
• ▹Openness to working in a domain with a strong frontend focus
