Senior / Staff Fullstack Engineer
Linear is looking for a Senior or Staff Fullstack Engineer to join its small, generalist team building the product development system for teams and agents. The codebase is TypeScript end-to-end, with React, MobX and styled-components on the frontend, Node, Postgres, Temporal and Redis in the backend, a proprietary websocket data sync framework, an extensive GraphQL API and hosting on Google Cloud with Kubernetes. Linear is remote-first, and the role is open to candidates in North America and Europe.
Responsibilities
- ▹Build new user-facing features, from database models through GraphQL resolvers to UI components
- ▹Optimize the data synchronization stack by applying better serialization protocols
- ▹Add real-time collaborative editing to the content editor
- ▹Improve performance by profiling and tweaking virtualized list rendering
- ▹Add analytics, monitoring and alerts to the service for better operational incident response
- ▹Open-source non-trivial innovations that come out of product work
- ▹Redefine best-in-class software development processes
Requirements
- ▹5+ years of experience building customer-facing products at a high-quality software company
- ▹Strong React and TypeScript fundamentals, with experience across the full stack (browser technologies, Node, GraphQL, PostgreSQL)
- ▹Track record of driving complex, end-to-end features with visible product impact, not just incremental improvements
- ▹Product sensibility: caring about UX, speed and polish, and pushing back when something doesn't feel right
- ▹Comfortable working without heavy PM overhead, helping to shape the problem rather than just implementing solutions
- ▹High ownership mentality: self-directed, full-lifecycle builder taking features from idea to shipped
- ▹Thrives in a remote, async-first environment with a lean, high-output team
- ▹Experience at a startup or a company with a genuinely high engineering bar
Soft skills
What we offer
- ▹Competitive salary and equity
- ▹Employee-friendly equity terms, including early exercise in the US and extended exercise windows
- ▹Daily meal and coffee stipend on every workday
- ▹Paid co-working space or desk
- ▹Health coverage (based on country requirements)
- ▹5 weeks of paid vacation plus local statutory holidays
- ▹4 months of paid parental leave
- ▹Paid month off after 4 years and every 2 years thereafter
- ▹Regular team events and off-sites
- ▹Remote-first with no required commute
