Freelance Senior Software Engineer (Ruby on Rails)

Responsibilities

• ▹Take the lead in creating innovative features by following best practices and maintaining exceptional code quality
• ▹Engage in every phase of the SDLC: contribute to the architecture, code development and oversee the launch of new releases
• ▹Support critical services for customers that ensure the security of their payments
• ▹Keep a finger on the pulse of the technology landscape, identify emerging technologies and proactively recommend improvements to the existing stack
• ▹Champion engineering excellence by fostering a culture of continuous improvement: lead by example in code reviews, Test-Driven Development (TDD), pair programming and writing clean, maintainable code

Requirements

• ▹5 years of experience in Ruby (Rails) back end development
• ▹Ability to conceive the technical design of a complex product feature
• ▹Experience working on a rapidly growing product; knowledge of architectural models of large-scale web applications
• ▹Experience working in an Agile environment like Scrum or Kanban
• ▹Experience in API development and knowledge of resilience, scalability and security constraints
• ▹Fluent in English
• ▹Desire to work on longer-term technical challenges and accomplish them

Nice to have

• ▹Experience in full stack development (React, JavaScript, TypeScript...)
• ▹DevOps culture, ability to work on deployment pipelines and CI/CD tools such as Docker, AWS, GitLab CI
• ▹Experience in an environment where security is important; sensitivity to good security practices
• ▹Experience in mentoring and leading junior and experienced people for good practices of software craftsmanship
• ▹Experience with other technologies in high-throughput environments
