
Senior Growth Engineer
Buffer creates social media and brand-building software for small businesses, creators and individuals, and is a fully distributed, transparency-focused team that travels to meet in person once or twice a year. This hands-on Senior Engineer role on Buffer's Growth Marketing team builds the web experiences, systems and infrastructure that help Buffer grow: features and pages across buffer.com, interactive tools, referral systems and conversion flows, along with integrations, analytics and tracking, SEO infrastructure and backend logic. The role reports to the Head of Engineering Operations and sits on the Marketing team. The tech stack uses Next.js v15+ with React and TypeScript, Express middleware, CSS Modules and Motion, Radix UI and Base UI, Recharts, a marketing stack of Segment, Google Tag Manager, Mixpanel and BigQuery, and content from Ghost CMS, Redash, Notion and Google Sheets.
Responsibilities
- ▹Own growth engineering projects end-to-end, from a localization framework to referral program logic, attribution systems and rebuilding tracking infrastructure, taking projects from concept to launch
- ▹Build features on the marketing site (landing pages, interactive tools, conversion flows, benchmarks and calculators) that help people discover and try Buffer
- ▹Shape marketing platform capabilities by building A/B testing infrastructure, programmatic page generation for SEO and AEO, content management patterns and reusable components
- ▹Drive experimentation and optimization, setting up experiments, validating results and iterating
- ▹Strengthen foundations by maintaining marketing technology integrations (Segment, GTM, Mixpanel, BigQuery), upgrading dependencies, optimizing performance and ensuring accessibility, and participate in the on-call rotation
- ▹Help shape engineering culture by pairing, reviewing code and sharing knowledge about growth and marketing engineering patterns
Requirements
- ▹Strong frontend foundations in React, TypeScript and modern web development, comfortable going beyond the frontend to write backend logic, build API routes and connect third-party integrations
- ▹Understanding of what it takes to grow something, with hands-on experience in SEO, analytics, A/B testing and conversion optimization (whether on a growth team or your own product)
- ▹Ability to think beyond the immediate task while knowing when to ship and learn from real usage
- ▹Thrive in remote, async environments, communicating clearly and working effectively across marketing, design and engineering
- ▹Built AI into user-facing marketing features at scale and use AI tools daily to multiply your output

- ▹Prior use of Buffer and care for the content planning, creation and publishing experience
