Senior Software Engineer - Frontend/React (USA Only - 100% Remote)

Frontend Developer • Senior • Remote • Full-time • 📍 Remote (US)

Close has been building a communication-first CRM since 2013 and is a bootstrapped, profitable, 120-person, fully remote company. The frontend is a single-page TypeScript web app in React, bundled with Vite and targeting modern browsers, tested with Vitest, React Testing Library, Playwright and Chromatic, updating in near real-time via WebSockets and WebRTC, styled with CSS modules and built on an in-house design system documented in Storybook, backed by a Python/Flask/FastAPI, MongoDB, Postgres and Elasticsearch stack on AWS. AI is both how they build and what they ship. When applying, candidates can highlight a preferred team (Agents, Communications, CRM or Growth), and engineers often move between teams over time. This is a US-only, 100% remote role.

Responsibilities

  • Agents team: build the UI that puts AI in customers' hands, including agent creation and configuration experiences, the conversational interface and observability surfaces
  • Communications team: own the UI for calls, building in-call experiences on WebRTC and WebSockets, live transcript and coaching views, power dialing flows and email, SMS and scheduling surfaces
  • CRM team: build core surfaces (lead pages, pipeline views, smart search, activity feeds) that are fast and delightful, plus AI-powered features
  • Growth team: own onboarding flows, activation moments, billing and checkout UI and the import experience in a hypothesis-driven, experiment-first environment

Requirements

  • A seasoned frontend engineer; React is the core, with experience picking the right tool, possibly across Vue, Svelte or Solid
  • Experience building AI-powered interfaces: shipped LLM-backed features for real users, designing for streamed responses, uncertain states and agent-driven UIs
  • Use AI tools daily in your own workflow to ship faster and reason about unfamiliar code
  • A builder-first mindset who ships early iterations rather than over-polishing
  • Opinionated about UI craft and component design, having built reusable systems other engineers loved
  • Battle-tested: debugged production performance regressions, owned a component library others relied on, or shipped a high-stakes release under real customer pressure
