Staff Software Engineer, Convert
Webflow is building the world's leading Agentic Marketing Experience Platform, and is looking for a Staff Software Engineer to help lead the technical future of Convert, its suite of products that give marketing and growth teams tools to experiment, personalize, and drive revenue. This is a cross-team technical leadership role working across a large, complex, revenue-generating system. You will partner with senior leaders across Engineering, Product, and Design to turn vision into shippable reality. The role is remote-first in Argentina.
Responsibilities
- ▹Set the long-term technical vision and architecture for backend systems powering experimentation, personalization, analytics, and conversion optimization
- ▹Architect and evolve high-throughput distributed systems and APIs that ingest, process, and serve large volumes of visitor and event data with low latency and high availability
- ▹Lead foundational platform and data infrastructure investments that unlock new product capabilities
- ▹Partner with data scientists, ML engineers, and product engineers to productionize statistical and AI/ML capabilities into real-time backend infrastructure
- ▹Lead complex, multi-team, multi-quarter technical initiatives end-to-end
- ▹Influence the engineering roadmap and technical strategy across Convert and partner pillars
- ▹Raise the engineering bar through architecture review, technical standards, and operational excellence
- ▹Mentor and grow staff and senior engineers
Requirements
- ▹BA/BS degree or equivalent experience
- ▹8+ years of software engineering experience, including building and operating backend and distributed systems at scale
- ▹Strong foundation in one or more languages such as Python, Java, or Go, with fluency in modern frameworks and system design
- ▹Experience designing, building, and operating high-throughput, data-intensive distributed systems in production
- ▹Demonstrated technical leadership on complex initiatives, influencing architecture and execution beyond the immediate team
- ▹Ability to partner with product, design, data science, and ML stakeholders to translate business needs into scalable solutions
- ▹Strong judgment and clear communication with technical audiences
- ▹A proactive embrace of AI and emerging technologies
Nice to have
- ▹Experience with experimentation platforms (A/B testing, feature flagging, multi-armed bandits), personalization or recommendation systems, marketing analytics, or customer data platforms
- ▹Familiarity with the statistical foundations of online experimentation (variance reduction, sequential testing, CUPED) and the infrastructure to support them at scale
- ▹Experience with Node.js and TypeScript in large production systems
