Staff Housing Caretaker
Fairmont Southampton, Bermuda's largest resort, is seeking a Staff Housing Caretaker. Reporting to the Director, Engineering & Facility Operations, the role is responsible for the overall maintenance, condition, and operational readiness of residential housing complexes, grounds, and associated facilities. The Caretaker performs general maintenance and minor repairs while coordinating and overseeing specialized work (e.g., HVAC, electrical, plumbing) carried out by qualified contractors.
Responsibilities
- ▹Perform general maintenance and minor repairs across housing units and common areas
- ▹Carry out basic troubleshooting and non-specialized repairs: plumbing fixtures (leaks, blockages, fittings), electrical fixtures (light fittings, switches – non-complex work), air conditioning units (basic checks, cleaning, filter changes)
- ▹Complete carpentry, painting, masonry, and general upkeep tasks
- ▹Repair and maintain door hardware, locks, and minor structural elements
- ▹Escalate, coordinate, and oversee all major or certified work (HVAC, electrical, plumbing installations and complex repairs) to qualified vendors or licensed personnel
- ▹Ensure all completed work meets required safety and quality standards
- ▹Conduct regular inspections of buildings, housing units, and outdoor areas; maintain cleanliness, safety, and visual appeal; support landscaping standards
- ▹Oversee pool maintenance through contractors, ensuring compliance with safety standards
- ▹Implement and support preventative maintenance programs, scheduling inspections and servicing of building systems
