Senior Data Scientist with AI Product Mindset
Hiflylabs, a Budapest-based company with 250+ employees, is looking for a Senior Data Scientist with an AI product mindset. You will independently deliver data science projects with an end-to-end, product-oriented approach, engage directly with clients, lead pre-sales technical discussions, and provide mentorship within the team. The role requires 5 years of data science experience, hands-on LLM, machine learning, and deep learning experience, and strong Python and SQL skills.
Responsibilities
- ▹Deliver data science projects independently, bringing an end-to-end, product-oriented mindset
- ▹Engage directly with clients to understand their business objectives and translate them into technical requirements
- ▹Lead pre-sales technical discussions, demonstrating the value and capabilities of the analytics solutions
- ▹Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate AI/ML solutions into the company's product offerings
- ▹Provide thought leadership and mentorship within the team, fostering continuous learning and innovation
- ▹Stay abreast of industry trends and advancements in AI/ML to keep solutions cutting-edge
Requirements
- ▹5 years of experience in data science or a related field (e.g., machine learning, LLM, deep learning)
- ▹Fluent English with excellent communication skills, comfortable in client-facing roles
- ▹Hands-on experience with LLM projects, machine learning, and deep learning
- ▹Affinity for building products / a product-oriented vision
- ▹Strong Python and SQL skills
- ▹Experience with cloud-based data science tools on AWS (SageMaker, Bedrock), Azure, or GCP for scalable model training and deployment
- ▹IDE experience (e.g., Jupyter, VSCode)
- ▹Version control: Git / BitBucket / Azure DevOps
- ▹Core machine learning libraries (sklearn, LightGBM, torch)
- ▹Traditional ML projects (supervised and unsupervised)
- ▹NLP experience/affinity: understanding of text classification and information extraction
- ▹Generative AI and LLM frameworks: HuggingFace/transformers, OpenAI; proprietary APIs and open-source models
- ▹Understanding of RAG concepts, building and maintaining pipelines, and concepts of pretraining and fine-tuning
Nice to have
- ▹Domain expertise in international finance, healthcare, pharma, or meteorology
- ▹Databricks / distributed computing / scalable ML
- ▹Familiarity with database systems (SQL, NoSQL)
- ▹ML lifecycle management (e.g., MLflow / wandb)
- ▹Web frameworks (e.g., Streamlit / FastAPI / Flask)
- ▹Automation pipelines in the cloud (e.g., Azure Functions, AWS Lambda, Databricks notebook jobs)
- ▹API integration
- ▹Experience deploying ML models in production environments
- ▹Experience with LangChain / LlamaIndex
- ▹Understanding of LLM agents, agentic behavior, and prompt engineering
- ▹Ability to differentiate what needs LLMs and what can be solved with traditional ML / NLP
