A Legal Counsel role within Delivery Hero's Legal Team, advising the company on EU employment law challenges related to platform work across the world. You will manage rider and platform worker classification risks, oversee high-profile litigation and regulatory investigations, and apply the EU Platform Workers Directive. The ideal candidate is a seasoned, fully qualified employment lawyer with litigation experience and a passion for the gig economy.

Responsibilities

  • ▹Lead the management of platform worker and rider classification risks globally, working with international employment lawyers across the Group.
  • ▹Monitor and manage high-profile litigation and regulatory investigations, and develop defense strategies with local legal counsel.
  • ▹Partner with Product, Tech and Operations teams to understand delivery operations and the tech stack, supporting next-generation delivery solutions.
  • ▹Support cross-functional teams in exploring new business models and strategic opportunities related to platform work.
  • ▹Track and analyze legislative and regulatory developments impacting platform work, and advise Public Policy teams at HQ and market level.
  • ▹Act as a subject-matter expert to senior management and stakeholders across the Group, with limited international travel (up to 10%).

Requirements

  • ▹Fully qualified employment lawyer in an EU jurisdiction, with extensive employment law experience.
  • ▹At least 3 years in a law firm environment with a strong litigation background.
  • ▹Deep expertise in platform work and worker classification, interpreting and applying the EU Platform Workers Directive.
  • ▹Strong legal judgment and the ability to influence senior stakeholders across multi-jurisdictional, cross-functional teams.
  • ▹Excellent communication and drafting skills, including executive-level communication and clear slide presentations.
  • ▹Full professional proficiency in English plus fluency in at least one additional European language.
  • ▹Willingness to be based in or relocate to one of the EU markets.
