Senior Backend Engineer, Deliveries and Orders
A senior backend engineering role in the Deliveries and Orders squad of the Consumer Mega Alliance at HelloTech in Warsaw. The mission is to build high-performing, scalable systems that power HelloFresh's core actions, ensuring millions of global users can place orders and manage deliveries quickly and without frustration. The role plays a critical part in modernizing core domains by decoupling them from legacy monolithic systems and building robust Order Management APIs and Delivery Services to unlock new capabilities like B2B ordering, ad-hoc changes and dynamic delivery cutoffs.
Responsibilities
- ▹Deliver high-quality architecture, design and development for microservices with robust deployment and operational stability using DevOps practices
- ▹Provide expertise within autonomous, cross-functional agile teams, collaborating with Product Owners, front-end engineers and designers
- ▹Act as a technical authority on core product architecture and share knowledge with other contributors
- ▹Execute technical tasks using a stack including Golang, Kafka, Docker and Kubernetes
- ▹Perform problem-solving across a wide range of platforms to ensure system reliability and performance
Requirements
- ▹Solid experience in backend development across monolithic, microservice and distributed event-driven architectures
- ▹Hands-on experience using AI coding agents (e.g. Claude Code, Cursor, Copilot) as thought partners, with habits around verifying, testing and setting boundaries on AI-generated work
- ▹Proficiency in languages such as Golang
- ▹Proven track record delivering services using Docker and Kubernetes
- ▹Extensive experience implementing true CI/CD pipelines
- ▹Practical application of TDD, BDD, DDD and distributed architectural patterns
- ▹Background in developing event-driven architectures using Kafka and/or RabbitMQ
- ▹Experience with MongoDB and PostgreSQL
Nice to have
- ▹JVM/Kotlin experience
- ▹Familiarity with e-commerce and subscription-based business models
- ▹GraphQL integration experience
