Reliability Engineer

Backend Developer • On-site • Full-time • 📍 Derby

A Reliability Engineer role at a HelloFresh site in Derby, responsible for the maintenance, repair and improvement of both automated and non-automated systems. The engineer ensures maximum uptime and reliability of equipment while actively participating in preventive and reactive maintenance. The position also supports automation systems including conveyance and facilities equipment, working a rotating shift pattern of days and nights.

Responsibilities

  • Actively monitor, troubleshoot and repair systems to provide high equipment availability
  • Perform routine preventive maintenance on automation, robotics and control panels
  • Diagnose and address issues in out-of-service equipment and escalate complex issues as needed
  • Record all work in the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) and ticketing systems
  • Work with contractors to ensure projects are completed to specification
  • Participate in cross-functional projects and ad hoc engineering tasks
  • Engage in predictive and preventative maintenance activities to maintain machine uptime
  • Provide training and mentorship to Junior Engineers on reliability practices
  • Adhere to and support food safety and health & safety standards
  • Participate in Root Cause Analysis (RCA) for continuous improvement

Requirements

  • Skilled in material handling, flow and capacity visualisation, and monitoring
  • Proficient in PLC-controlled automation and issue diagnosis in continuous production environments
  • Extensive experience with PLCs, HMIs and VFDs, including programming, troubleshooting and maintenance
  • Advanced understanding of PLCs and automated processes
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities for technical issues in automation systems
  • Excellent organisational and project management skills, able to prioritise tasks and deliver within budget
  • Independent right to work in the UK (no sponsorship available)
