A Backend Engineer role in HelloFresh's Food Systems Alliance, the team building tools and systems that power menu planning across HelloFresh. The mission is to help menu planners create the best menus by combining data, automation and decision-support tooling, consolidating multiple market-specific solutions into a unified global platform.

Responsibilities

  • ▹Design, build and maintain backend services and internal products supporting menu planning and operational decision-making
  • ▹Contribute to a global platform used by planners across multiple HelloFresh markets
  • ▹Drive automation initiatives that improve efficiency and scalability of planning processes
  • ▹Collaborate with Product Managers, Engineers, Data teams and business stakeholders to translate complex requirements into reliable solutions
  • ▹Work with large, interconnected datasets to support recommendation, planning and optimization use cases
  • ▹Contribute to code reviews, technical discussions and engineering best practices, owning problems from discovery to continuous improvement

Requirements

  • ▹Solid software engineering fundamentals: API design, testing, debugging and writing maintainable code
  • ▹The team primarily works with Go; candidates from other backend ecosystems welcome with some Go familiarity and eagerness to use it as primary language
  • ▹Comfort working with relational databases such as PostgreSQL and writing efficient SQL queries
  • ▹Familiarity with cloud-native development and modern tooling (Kubernetes, Terraform, CI/CD, observability)
  • ▹Proactive, self-driven approach to problem solving and ability to navigate ambiguity

Nice to have

  • ▹Experience using AI-powered tools to enhance software development workflows
  • ▹Familiarity with React or other modern frontend technologies
