Pennylane is building the financial OS for European SMEs and is scaling its remote-first engineering team, organized into 35+ squads. They are hiring Engineering Managers to lead and mentor a squad of 5 to 8 developers, working alongside a PM and a Product Designer. The role can be done from anywhere in Europe, with the tech team meeting in Paris a few days every two months.

Responsibilities

  • ▹Manage a team of 5 to 8 software engineers
  • ▹Balance individual contribution with management responsibilities
  • ▹Collaborate with the product manager to uphold quality and efficiency standards and team well-being
  • ▹Identify developers' key strengths and areas of improvement to help them grow
  • ▹Collaborate with other Engineering Managers to set up appropriate processes as the team scales

Requirements

  • ▹At least 5 years of experience in software development
  • ▹Solid management experience
  • ▹A balanced blend of technical, business, and product skills
  • ▹Experience working in an agile environment
  • ▹Strong communication skills and the ability to articulate ideas clearly

Nice to have

  • ▹Experience with Ruby on Rails or React.js
