The MongoDB Database Experience team builds tools for MongoDB Atlas, the database-as-a-service offering that lets users deploy fault-tolerant, globally distributed MongoDB clusters in minutes. The Developer Tools Team within this department is responsible for tools that let users interact with their data and understand the health and performance of their deployments, working on APIs and customer-facing UIs such as MongoDB Compass on desktop and Atlas Data Explorer in the browser. The position requires participation in a 24/7 on-call rotation and can be based out of the Dublin office or remotely in Ireland.
Responsibilities
- ▹Develop tools, APIs and customer-facing UIs that let MongoDB users interact with their stored data (MongoDB Compass, Atlas Data Explorer)
- ▹Help users understand the health and performance of their MongoDB deployments
- ▹Participate in a 24/7 on-call rotation to ensure business continuity and incident response
Requirements
- ▹3+ years of engineering experience working with backend systems (Java, C#, Go, Node.js, etc.)
- ▹Backend engineer willing to take on frontend tasks, or full-stack developer with a bias towards backend
- ▹Experience with the design and architecture of a modern, scalable, high-availability web application
- ▹Experience working with databases
- ▹Enjoys chasing down difficult problems in a distributed environment
Nice to have
- ▹Knowledge of database internals and tuning mechanisms, particularly indexing
- ▹Previous work in TypeScript, React, and Node.js, particularly maintaining an ecosystem of dependencies
- ▹Experience with websocket-based client-to-server communication
- ▹Familiarity with developing and supporting microservice-based architectures using Kubernetes
