As a Principal Engineer on the Redis AI Services team, you define the technical direction for integrating AI capabilities into Redis cloud and on-prem services. The role operates with high ambiguity and leadership across complex, cross-domain initiatives. You design highly scalable AI-driven cloud services and mentor senior engineers.

Responsibilities

  • ▹Own and drive the architectural vision of complex, cross-domain initiatives for Redis AI services
  • ▹Design, implement and deploy highly scalable, reliable and performant AI-driven cloud services
  • ▹Partner with global stakeholders across AI Research, Product, Cloud Infra and R&D to define the technical roadmap
  • ▹Improve performance, reliability and developer experience using cloud-native and AI expertise
  • ▹Serve as a role model and mentor for senior engineers and other ICs, shaping best practices

Requirements

  • ▹Proven software development experience (typically 15+ years) with deep backend and scalable cloud services knowledge
  • ▹Hands-on expertise primarily with Golang (Java or Python also relevant)
  • ▹Strong background in design and architecture for scalable, fault-tolerant, cloud-native systems (Kubernetes, Argo CD, Terraform)
  • ▹Experience with AI-assisted coding (e.g., Codex, Claude) and coaching teams in that direction
  • ▹Strong ownership mindset and ability to lead complex cross-domain initiatives end-to-end in high-ambiguity environments
  • ▹Excellent communication skills in English, including presenting to senior leadership

Nice to have

  • ▹Experience productionizing AI/ML systems and standing up POCs from scratch
  • ▹Deep understanding of Agentic AI architecture and Context Engineering (tool calling, semantic memory, LLM caching, MCP)
  • ▹Experience with ML or agent orchestration frameworks (LangChain, LangGraph, LlamaIndex, TensorFlow, PyTorch)
  • ▹Active contributions to open-source projects in distributed systems, data infrastructure or AI tooling
  • ▹Experience with Redis and its ecosystem
  • ▹Bachelor's or Master's in Computer Science or related field
