Senior Backend Engineer - AI Platform (f/m/d)
Contentful's AI Platform team is looking for a Senior Backend Engineer to build and maintain the internal AI platform that accelerates innovation across the organization. You will develop scalable, high-performance AI integrations, APIs, tooling and documentation that enable feature teams to test, deliver and maintain AI-driven products, acting as both a support and consultancy resource. The stack centres on TypeScript and Node.js, with AI technologies such as generative AI, machine learning models and NLP.
Responsibilities
- ▹Design, develop and maintain scalable AI platform features using TypeScript and Node.js
- ▹Implement and integrate AI technologies such as generative AI, machine learning models and NLP
- ▹Work closely with product managers, designers and engineers on best-in-class AI-enabled features
- ▹Support and consult feature teams to enhance their development capabilities
- ▹Quickly fix bugs and issues related to AI performance, model integration and data pipelines
- ▹Participate in code reviews and improve AI development processes
- ▹Keep up to date with the latest AI and machine learning trends
Requirements
- ▹Proven experience building APIs and services that efficiently handle large volumes of traffic
- ▹Deep interest in clean code practices and familiarity with enterprise architectural design patterns
- ▹Experience with serverless architectures, ideally edge compute environments such as Cloudflare Workers
- ▹Experience building and maintaining asynchronous systems for automation and bulk use cases
- ▹Experience with Docker and Kubernetes, especially deploying AI models or microservices
- ▹Knowledge of implementing enterprise-ready governance features such as RBAC, audit logging and compliance frameworks
- ▹Knowledge of cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure or GCP
Nice to have
- ▹Experience with services such as AWS SageMaker, Google AI or Azure Machine Learning
- ▹Skills in integrating and implementing AI/ML solutions in a product development environment
- ▹Knowledge of foundational models and prompt engineering, and the ability to validate the quality of AI products
- ▹Experience developing platform features that enable internal teams
- ▹Strong full stack skills in TypeScript, React and Node.js
