Senior Cloud Engineer | Infrastructure & Application Development | Europe remote
n8n is hiring a Senior Cloud Infrastructure & Application Development Engineer to build, operate, and shape the foundational infrastructure powering n8n Cloud, sustaining rapid expansion while delivering a stable experience to users and supporting internal product teams. The work spans cloud infrastructure, observability, security, automation, reliability (KTLO), and on-call, with a key role in strategic technical decisions around architecture, tooling, and platform evolution. The team is small and high-trust, tackling challenges like scaling from 500k toward 10M users.
Responsibilities
- ▹Design, build, and operate infrastructure powering the cloud platform for high availability, performance, and developer efficiency
- ▹Push the boundaries on scaling to millions of users
- ▹Drive observability, monitoring, and alerting, and reduce operational toil through automation and smart tooling
- ▹Improve the security and observability posture
- ▹Contribute to the on-call rotation to keep systems healthy and performant
- ▹Own and evolve KTLO (keep-the-lights-on) work: reliability, performance bottlenecks, and critical bug fixes
- ▹Collaborate with Cloud team engineers, product engineers, PMs, Support, Customer Success, and Sales on cross-functional projects
- ▹Play a key role in strategic technical decisions: architecture, tooling, and platform evolution
Requirements
- ▹Solid infrastructure/Cloud/DevOps engineering experience, including scaling a complex platform to many users
- ▹Application development with Node.js
- ▹Strong grasp of CI/CD pipelines and build processes
- ▹Experience with observability, monitoring, and performance tuning
- ▹Proficiency with Kubernetes, Terraform, at least one major cloud provider (Azure, AWS, GCP), and TypeScript or JavaScript
Nice to have
- ▹Ability to function as a tech lead with a positive, hands-on servant-leadership style
- ▹Familiarity with distributed systems, security, and cloud-native architecture
- ▹Experience in a scrappy startup, small high-trust teams, or entrepreneurial background
- ▹Azure experience
