Solutions Architect
Vercel is hiring a Solutions Architect for its Field Engineering team, spanning both technical pre-sales and post-sales as a trusted advisor to enterprise customers throughout their lifecycle. In pre-sales you will qualify technical fit, design future-state architectures, run evaluations and demonstrate business outcomes; post-sales you act as a technical quarterback, guiding architecture and implementation decisions for critical AI and web workloads. If you are within commuting distance of the London or Berlin office, the role includes in-office anchor days, and some travel is expected for industry events and customer on-sites.
Responsibilities
- ▹Partner with Sales to lead technical discovery, qualify customer use cases and shape solution strategy for key opportunities
- ▹Design target architectures for modern agentic workflows and AI and web applications on Vercel, including frontends, APIs, data and edge services, and integrations with headless and composable ecosystems (CMS, commerce, payments, media, analytics)
- ▹Create and deliver tailored demos, technical presentations and workshops that articulate Vercel's value
- ▹Own and run proofs of concept and pilots end-to-end: define success criteria, guide implementation, remove blockers and document executive-level outcomes
- ▹Act as lead architect post-sale for strategic accounts: onboarding, reference implementations, migration patterns and best practices
- ▹Proactively engage customers on performance, reliability and cost optimization using metrics like Core Web Vitals, Lighthouse and observability data
- ▹Collaborate with Field Engineering colleagues to standardize playbooks, reusable assets and patterns
- ▹Respond to and coordinate security, compliance and architecture reviews with internal specialists
- ▹Feed recurring field themes and gaps back into Product and Engineering roadmaps as the technical Voice of the Customer
- ▹Contribute to internal enablement and external content (reference architectures, example repos, talks, blog posts)
Requirements
- ▹Significant experience in a customer-facing technical role (solutions architect, sales engineer, platform architect, agency software engineer) with modern web or cloud platforms
- ▹Strong hands-on skills with JavaScript/TypeScript and modern web frameworks, ideally including Next.js, comfortable reviewing application code with engineering teams
- ▹Understanding of web performance, caching, networking and security fundamentals, ideally including AI/LLM-powered applications and agentic workflows
- ▹Comfort discussing business outcomes with executives and implementation details with developers
- ▹Track record of owning complex technical projects with multiple stakeholders and delivering on time in fast-moving environments
- ▹Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure or GCP) and how SaaS and edge platforms integrate into enterprise architectures
- ▹Empathy for developers and passion for great developer experience
Nice to have
- ▹Experience building AI-powered applications or agentic workloads, ideally with tooling such as the AI SDK
- ▹Production experience deploying and operating Next.js or other modern frontend frameworks on Vercel or similar platforms
- ▹Experience with organisations standardising on composable architectures (headless CMS, commerce, search, analytics, identity providers)
- ▹Cloud or architecture certifications, or experience leading large-scale migrations to cloud-native platforms
- ▹Familiarity with security and privacy standards such as SOC 2, PCI DSS or HIPAA and participation in customer security reviews
