Proton is hiring a Database Platform Engineer to join its infrastructure department and scale a web-scale fleet of mission-critical MySQL databases accessed through ProxySQL. The role focuses on improving automation, reliability, and availability while keeping data safe, collaborating with infrastructure and development teams to embed database best practices.
Responsibilities
- ▹Support and manage a web-scale fleet of mission-critical MySQL databases accessed through ProxySQL
- ▹Boost existing automation to reduce operational workload and increase reliability
- ▹Design, implement, and execute new operational procedures and processes
- ▹Use programming/scripting skills to improve and create code for managing the database platform
- ▹Optimize various layers of database infrastructure, including hardware, OS, storage, and network
- ▹Troubleshoot complex technical problems to find root causes and provide long-term solutions
Requirements
- ▹Experience managing MySQL databases at scale
- ▹Experience with ProxySQL or similar database proxy technologies
- ▹Programming/scripting skills for database automation
- ▹Knowledge of database infrastructure layers: hardware, OS, storage, and network
- ▹Strong troubleshooting and root-cause analysis skills
