Senior Software Engineer, Firefox Security
Mozilla is hiring a Senior Software Engineer for Firefox Security to advance Firefox's security architecture and cryptography stack, with a focus on cryptographic protocols, WebPKI, and security-sensitive web APIs. The role involves designing and shipping standards-based web platform security features and improving browser reliability, performance, and memory efficiency. This is a remote position (hiring range for Germany: €68.000-€91.000 EUR).
Responsibilities
- ▹Advance Firefox's security architecture and cryptography stack, focusing on cryptographic protocols, WebPKI, and security-sensitive web APIs
- ▹Design and implement standards-based, secure, and interoperable web platform security features
- ▹Improve browser reliability, performance, and resource efficiency, including memory usage in a multi-threaded environment
- ▹Collaborate on security initiatives through debugging, root cause analysis, and long-term solutions
- ▹Contribute to technical design, design reviews, and project planning for security-related initiatives
Requirements
- ▹Strong software engineering and security fundamentals, with proficiency in C/C++
- ▹Solid understanding of security principles, including cryptographic protocols and implementations
- ▹Ability to design, implement, test, and maintain software in large-scale or security-sensitive environments
- ▹Strong debugging and problem-solving skills in multi-threaded, cross-platform native applications, including performance and memory challenges
- ▹Collaborative and effective communicator with distributed teams
- ▹Growth mindset and willingness to deepen expertise in browser security, cryptography, and systems programming
- ▹Familiarity with web technologies and interest or experience in Rust, comfortable in large multi-language codebases
