Firefox Security Student Worker

Mozilla's Firefox Application Security Team is offering a student worker position in Berlin focused on securing the web and improving the browsing experience. The role provides mentorship and hands-on involvement in security investigations, test case writing, and web security feature development. No prior security experience is required, but web development, Python, or systems programming background is expected.

Responsibilities

  • Learn how the team secures the web and improves the browsing experience
  • Help investigate security issues with guidance
  • Write test cases using HTML and JavaScript
  • Improve existing team processes using Python
  • Expand web security features in Firefox using C++
  • Optionally propose and drive own projects

Requirements

  • Enrolled at a university in Germany
  • Willing to occasionally visit the Berlin office a few times per year
  • Web development, Python, or systems programming experience
  • Comfortable communicating in English in writing and meetings
  • Enjoyment of careful technical investigation

Nice to have

  • Participation in student tech communities
  • Experience in documentation, teaching, or mentoring
  • Experience with C/C++ and familiarity with memory safety
  • Contributions to open source or group projects
  • Understanding of web security concepts
