N26's Bank Core team runs the systems at the heart of the bank – accounts, ledgers and the core banking logic every other team builds on – and is revamping that core now, so engineers who join today shape decisions that reach across the entire company. The services are written almost exclusively in Kotlin on Spring Boot, deployed on Kubernetes, communicating over Kafka, backed by Postgres and running on AWS. The team leans heavily on agentic coding, but you stay in charge: you question what the tools produce, review every line and own the result.
Responsibilities
- ▹Own features end to end on systems that move real money for millions of customers
- ▹Go deep on the banking domain – payments, ledgers and the rules beneath them – and use that understanding to question and sharpen what is built
- ▹Drive your own priorities within a cross-functional team and unblock yourself when you hit a wall
- ▹Raise problems early with a proposed solution instead of working around them
- ▹Ship incremental improvements and share your findings, including at the team's Get Stuff Done Days (GSDD)
Requirements
- ▹Solid grasp of microservice architecture
- ▹Comfortable with relational databases, Postgres preferred
- ▹Experience operating in a modern cloud environment, ideally AWS and Kubernetes
- ▹Full professional proficiency in English
Nice to have
- ▹Experience with event-driven systems using Kafka
- ▹Payments, ledgers or other banking/fintech domain experience
