Mid Data Analyst - Finance

SumUp is looking for a Data Analyst to join its Commercial Analytics team within Finance in Berlin. In this role you will help shape how SumUp measures commercial performance across the customer lifecycle, working closely with the Global and European FP&A teams. You will build data foundations behind financial and commercial decision-making, from defining trusted KPIs and scalable data models to delivering reporting and analyses. This is an office-first position.

Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain scalable data models that track financial and commercial performance across the customer lifecycle (recurring revenue, payback, lifetime value, customer acquisition cost, churn)
  • Develop clear, reliable dashboards and reporting layers enabling self-serve analytics for Finance stakeholders and leadership
  • Partner with FP&A and cross-functional stakeholders to translate finance and commercial questions into KPIs, analyses and recommendations
  • Deliver advanced analyses combining quantitative thinking with business context to support planning and strategic decisions
  • Help define and improve core metrics, data definitions and reporting standards across markets and segments
  • Work with analytics engineering to ensure data is well-structured, trusted and accessible
  • Contribute to data-informed planning and OKRs, including merchant segmentation, growth performance and unit economics
  • Act as a thought partner by challenging assumptions and identifying risks or opportunities

Requirements

  • 4+ years of experience in data analytics, business analytics or commercial/finance analytics in a fast-paced, data-rich environment
  • Strong experience with SQL to explore data, define KPIs and build robust analytical datasets
  • Strong experience supporting Finance, FP&A or commercial stakeholders with an understanding of financial and business performance concepts
  • Experience building accurate, intuitive dashboards and reports, ideally in Tableau or a similar BI tool
  • Ability to translate ambiguous business questions into structured analysis, clear metrics and practical recommendations
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills with senior business partners
  • A combination of technical depth and business acumen with a genuine interest in data-driven decision-making
